Wear resistance – HELICOIL plus thread inserts are made of austenic Cr-Ni steel (min. tensile strength 1400 N/mm2), with high surface quality, which ensures the wear resistance and a heavily loaded thread with extremely low and constant friction torque.

Load carrying capacity – the flexible characteristics of the HELICOIL plus thread inserts provide a uniform load and tension distribution. Therefore an ideal force transfer is achieved between the bolt and the nut thread, and the quality of the thread connection increases both for static and dynamic operation loads.

Corrosion resistance and atmospheric stability – material properties of HELICOIL plus protect screws from corrosion and seizure at normal environmental conditions. For thermally high stressed thread connections, special HELICOIL plus thread inserts made out of nickel based materials with or without coating are available.

Applications

As a construction part – in any case, where materials with law shearing resistance are used (e.g. aluminium, aluminium-magnesium alloys) it is unavoidable to take measures to reinforce the thread. This is mainly done in such industry branches as machine building, automotive industry, electrical and medical engineering, and air transportation.

Reworking and thread repair – HELICOIL plus thread inserts are accepted worldwide for stable repairing of damaged or worn out threads. Besides the repair of single valuable parts, it is very important to have a possibility to reintroduce large-scale manufactured components back into the production process in cases when, due to faulty tapped threads, they would be otherwise discarded.
